The Villages of Verezzi

Verezzi

Verezzi is an exquisite group of four hilltop villages surrounded by Mediterranean scrub with breath-taking views. Of the four, Poggio is built around its tower; Crosa is the oldest, with the parish church of Saint Martin of Tours and the Phoenician mill-house, thus called because of the particular manner in which it operates; Roccaro is the most recent and features a chapel dedicated to the Immaculate Virgin Mary, where the ensigns of the four hamlets are held; and Piazza is the most famous for a well-known Theatre Festival offering lively evenings since 1967.

Connected by narrow alleyways, the pink houses made of Verezzi Stone – this being slightly different from Finale Stone) lean on each other with their terraced or slightly vaulted roofs and picturesque archways that somehow give away their original defensive purpose.

Verezzi is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy since 2008 and an Italian postal stamp of the village was issued as part of the tourist series in 2009.
